Trauma
It can take a person a few days or several years to feel and manifest signs and symptoms of trauma. Founded and developed by Laurie Leitch, PhD and Elaine Miller-Karas, LCSW, The Trauma Resiliency Model focuses on the gentle release of blocked energy from the Nervous System thereby restoring its balance (Miller-Karas and Leitch).
A traumatic event is any event that someone may experience as life threatening to themselves or others. There are many kinds and degrees of trauma ranging from those experienced in childhood such as sexual abuse, verbal abuse or chronic neglect to shock traumas such as car accidents or natural disasters to conflict at the workplace. Talk therapy does not always help to unlock these experiences at the same level and with the same results as this biological model.
