  Children

Children speak a different language than adults. Their understanding and experience of things is often not what parents and grown ups imagine. They can have pockets of resilience and  sensitivity at the same time. When children are under stress and acting out, they need extra support and a place to go with their feelings; a safe place where there is acceptance, flexibility and privacy. This environment helps a child build resources of their own and in time gives them a sense of mastery over themselves.

When working with chiIdren, I communicate with caregiver(s) as often as needed and meet with caregivers  every one to two months as well to keep continuity and to ensure that caregivers are able to support the child at home.

"I do not fix kids," Violet Oaklander. What I do is provide a free and protected space for them where they are safe to express what needs to be expressed without judgement; where their dreams can be told while feeling held; and where play, art and sand are the language of expression. This invites strength, growth and development and nurtures the child's sense of self.
